To help community members understand what work is planned at each location, the improvements for this construction package are grouped into two distinct project areas. Although these projects were bid together and will be built under one contract, each location includes its own set of upgrades based on local needs. The information below outlines the improvements for:

  1. Scholls Ferry Road between Laurelwood Avenue and 77th Avenue, including the new crossing at 77th Avenue 
  2. The focused safety upgrades at the Scholls Ferry Road and SW 121st Avenue intersection

These improvements are designed to enhance safety, accessibility, and connectivity for people walking, biking, and traveling through these areas.

1. Scholls Ferry Road: Laurelwood Avenue to 77th Avenue (Projects #100543 & #100522)

These improvements will create a safer, more connected corridor for people walking, biking, and traveling along Scholls Ferry Road.

  • Continuous six‑foot‑wide sidewalks on the north side of Scholls Ferry Road, closing existing gaps. 
  • Five‑foot‑wide on‑street bike lanes for better visibility and safety. 
  • A new pedestrian crossing with flashing beacon at the Scholls Ferry Road/77th Avenue intersection. 
  • ADA‑compliant curb ramps throughout the corridor. 
  • Improved street lighting for better nighttime visibility. 
  • Stormwater and drainage upgrades to reduce standing water and support long‑term roadway maintenance. 

 

2. Scholls Ferry Road at SW 121st Avenue (Project #100554)

This location is part of the same construction package, but includes a smaller, focused set of improvements:

  • Installation of new ADA‑compliant curb ramps, along with adjoining sidewalk, curb, and gutter. 
  • Replacement of the existing pedestrian push buttons with upgraded, accessible push buttons. 
  • Installation of two new streetlights to improve nighttime safety. 

Construction for all three projects is anticipated to begin in June 2026, with all work scheduled for completion by August 23, 2026.
