Scholls Ferry Road is a key connection for people traveling to nearby neighborhoods, parks, and schools. Today, gaps in the sidewalk network and limited bike facilities make it challenging for people walking and biking to comfortably use this corridor. With increasing traffic and more families traveling along Scholls Ferry Road, improving safety and access is a top priority.

This project will fill sidewalk gaps, upgrade existing bike and pedestrian facilities, and improve crossings to make it easier and safer for people of all ages and abilities to travel along and across Scholls Ferry Road. These improvements support safe routes to school, everyday neighborhood travel, and a more comfortable experience for all roadway users.

Construction is scheduled to begin in June 2026 and continue through early fall. We are gathering public comments from May 22 through June 9 as we begin construction and share what to expect.

The project includes:

  • New sidewalks to close existing gaps along key segments of Scholls Ferry Road
  • On-street bike lanes to improve safety and visibility for people biking
  • ADA-compliant curb ramps
  • A new pedestrian crossing with flashing beacons for safer access across the roadway
  • Improved street lighting
  • Storm drainage and water quality upgrades
